Rajasthan Royals have been one of the standout teams in IPL 2026, and despite a brief mid-season dip, their overall campaign continues to impress. A major driving force behind their success has been the explosive opening combination of Vaibhav Sooryavanshi and Yashasvi Jaiswal. However, questions had begun to surface around the middle order, particularly with skipper Riyan Parag struggling for consistency, managing just 117 runs from nine innings at a modest strike rate.

Those concerns were firmly addressed during Rajasthan’s emphatic chase of 223 against Punjab Kings in Mullanpur. In what turned out to be one of their most complete performances of the season, RR not only ended PBKS’ unbeaten run but also showcased the depth in their batting lineup. While the openers once again laid a strong platform, it was the middle order that stepped up decisively.

Donovan Ferreira’s unbeaten 52, combined with Shubham Dubey’s composed 31* and Parag’s handy 29, ensured Rajasthan completed their second-highest successful run chase in IPL history. Speaking after the match, Riyan Parag dismissed the outside noise around the team’s middle-order concerns.

“Everyone watching, everyone commentating – that was their concerns, not ours,” he said. “We trust our players and their abilities. When one department doesn’t fire, the others step up.” He emphasized the collective belief within the squad and the importance of adaptability in T20 cricket. “When the middle order fires and the top doesn’t, we pick it up, and vice versa. All the worries are outside, not within the team,” Riyan Parag added.

The RR captain also reflected on the overall performance, suggesting that while it was close to their best, there is still room for improvement.

“I feel we could have bowled and batted a few overs better here and there. You always aim to play 40 overs of perfect cricket, even if that’s not always realistic,” he explained. Riyan Parag highlighted the team’s process-driven approach, focusing on continuous improvement rather than results alone. “After every game, we assess what went right and what didn’t. It’s about learning and moving forward,” he said.

“I thought we could have restricted them a bit more, but the batters picked up the slack. That’s the kind of balance we want.” With this win, Rajasthan Royals have not only strengthened their position in the points table but also sent a clear message about their all-round capabilities in IPL 2026.
