Riyan Parag took on the responsibility of leading Rajasthan Royals against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in their second IPL 2025 match. Playing at his home ground in Guwahati, Parag walked in at No. 3 following the dismissal of Sanju Samson. There was a lot of hope pinned on the local star, and he seemed to settle in well, hitting three impressive sixes to reach a quick 25 off 15 balls.

However, just when it seemed like he could build a substantial innings, Parag threw his wicket away. In the eighth over, Varun Chakaravarthy bowled a full delivery outside off. Parag, having already launched a six earlier in the over, attempted another big hit. Unfortunately, this time he mistimed the shot, connecting the ball off the bottom of his bat.

It soared high into the sky, and Quinton de Kock, quick to react, called for the catch. The wicketkeeper expertly removed his helmet, tracked the ball’s flight, and completed a superb catch, leaving Parag and the RR fans visibly frustrated.

Riyan Parag’s long walk back to the pavilion mirrored the disappointment of the home crowd. Adding to RR’s woes, Yashasvi Jaiswal and Wanindu Hasaranga fell soon after, leaving the team struggling at 76/4. KKR’s spinners were in control, tightening the grip and making it a challenging day for the Royals. For Parag, it was yet another opportunity missed, and the pressure to perform only seems to be growing.
