“In the interest of public safety, the organisers have agreed to reschedule the remaining matches. These matches will be played when the situation will be conducive to hold them,” the source said.

However, the organisers had earlier cancelled the matches which were supposed to play at the MCA Stadium in Pune and relocated them to the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai due to coronavirus threat. Moreover, it was also earlier decided that the games would take place in the empty stadiums, but now they have been cancelled all the rest of the games for the time being.

Notably, Maharashtra reported 10 positive cases of coronavirus on Wednesday. Due to the outbreak of the coronavirus, many sporting events in India and around the globe have been cancelled or postponed as of now. While the Bangladesh Cricket Board have decided to limit their sale of tickets for the opening T20 international match against Zimbabwe in Dhaka to one per person due to the threat posed by the dangerous coronavirus, Nepal’s Everest Premier League has been postponed on government advice. Alongside this, there have been questions on players’ participation in the Asia XI vs World XI as well which is scheduled to take place in Bangladesh.

All stakeholders agreed that “they will continue to monitor the situation closely with the relevant authorities as they understand that it is a fluid situation, developing on a daily basis and they remain realistic and flexible in their approach to alternative options, which will be communicated in due course”.
