Robin Uthappa has been a fantastic servant whenever the batsman was called up for the Indian national team over the years. The 34-year old batsman gave a totally unexpected answer when questioned to name the best captain he has ever played under and also shared his excitement on playing for Rajasthan Royals under the leadership of Steve Smith.
Robin Uthappa has played under fantastic captains and great leaders which consists of the like of Rahul Dravid and MS Dhoni, However, Uthappa didn’t name either of the players when he was asked to name the best captain he has ever played under.

When asked to name the best captain he has played under, Robin said, “Gauti, for me, stood out. Even though he doesn’t speak much, he communicates just what is enough, and you know that you’re in a good place. Good leaders make you feel secure, then they let you be, and you see that in their results as a captain.”
Robin Uthappa had a great stint during his time for the Shah Rukh Khan-owned team. Robin Uthappa joined KKR in 2014 and amassed 660 runs at an aggressive strike rate of 138 helping his side lift the trophy. Playing 3 more seasons under the leadership of cricketer-turned-politician Gautam Gambhir helped Robin Uthappa get called back into the Indian side. In 177 IPL games, Uthappa has scored 4411 runs that consist of 24 half-centuries.

The veteran player was also asked to comment on joining Rajasthan Royals who secured his services this year for INR 3 Crores. Uthappa expressed his excitement on joining the Rajasthan based side and mentioned he is eagerly awaiting to meet his new teammates and captain Steve Smith.
“I am genuinely looking forward to meeting and spending time with Steve Smith, Jos Buttler, Ben Stokes, Oshane Thomas, Tom Curran and others because it’s only when guys come together, and set the common goal of wanting to win, and that desire is vehemently expressed, you know that it is going to come through”, the 34-year-old said.
