An arrest warrant has been issued against former India cricketer Robin Uthappa by Shadakshara Gopal Reddy, the Regional Provident Fund Commissioner – II and Recovery Officer, KR Puram, in Bengaluru. The warrant comes following allegations of Provident Fund (PF) fraud involving Uthappa.
Uthappa, who managed Centuries Lifestyle Brand Private Limited, is accused of deducting PF contributions from his employees’ salaries but failing to deposit these funds into their accounts. The total amount of the alleged fraud is a significant INR 23.36 lakh.

According to India.com, on December 4, Commissioner Reddy directed the police to act on the arrest warrant. However, the warrant was returned as Robin Uthappa is believed to have changed his residence. Authorities are now investigating further to locate the former cricketer and ensure compliance with the law. The warranty will be void if Uthappa settles the outstanding amount.

Robin Uthappa, who was part of the Indian squad that won the inaugural T20 World Cup in 2007, had a notable career in international cricket, playing 46 ODIs and 13 T20Is between 2006 and 2015. He scored 934 runs in ODIs and 249 in T20Is.
Uthappa also made his mark in the Indian Premier League (IPL), with his standout season coming in 2014, when he was the highest run-scorer for Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in their successful campaign. Uthappa’s contribution helped KKR win their second IPL title, earning him the prestigious Orange Cap that year.

After announcing his retirement from all forms of cricket in September 2022, Uthappa shifted to commentary and occasionally plays in franchise-based tournaments. Recently, he also captained the Indian team in the Hong Kong Sixes tournament.
