In fresh reports today, it has been claimed that the Mumbai Indians stand on the cusp of losing their two biggest stars, Rohit Sharma and Suryakumar Yadav, ahead of the Indian Premier League 2025 auction. As per the report by Dainik Jagran, these are the key figures who could be let go by the five-time champions. In a most stunning and shocking turn of events, defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders are reportedly interested in going all out in the mega auction for them.

It’s been quite a pulsating season for the Mumbai Indians this Indian Premier League season. The most major move the franchise made last year was the acquisition of Hardik Pandya from Gujarat Titans before the auction. Although this move was not digested by the fans, more so when Hardik Pandya was announced as the captain and not the hometown hero, Rohit Sharma.

They further added that the tournament was embroiled with dissension within the team, more specifically between Pandya and the senior players, Rohit, Suryakumar, and Jasprit Bumrah. So, this MI team under the leadership of Pandya performed very badly by ending up at the bottom of the points table and failing to display as one unit.

IPL 2025 was supposed to be the one that rejuvenated fortunes for MI management. But with now Rohit and Suryakumar likely to leave, it’s going to be a huge setback for them. As these two have been the pivotal players in the squad over the years, replacing them will not be a cakewalk.

The alarms are certainly somewhat softened for the Mumbai fans since the official announcement is still to be made about these exits. If Rohit Sharma does leave the Mumbai Indians, he might now think of either joining Gujarat Titans or Delhi Capitals as his next franchise in IPL 2025. Titans, who triumphed in 2022 after finishing runners-up last year, badly ended this year as they finished ninth of 10 teams under Shubman Gill, who was leading for the first time.

The Delhi Capitals registered a sixth-place finish under Rishabh Pant this season. What remains an enigma is the position of Pant as there are rumours that due to despair of his performance, he could have joined Chennai super king.

In what could be another potential shake-up, KL Rahul could leave the Lucknow Super Giants to join the Royal Challengers Bangalore as their captain. RCB’s going three seasons with Faf du Plessis at the helm of its affairs without being able to win an IPL title so its surprising the franchise has not changed its leadership.

All potential moves talk about significant reshuffling in the landscape of IPL and therefore can dramatically change the dynamics of the league moving into the new season. Much the way the fans do, the teams also await official confirmations; the speculation continues to fire them up and gear them up for the upcoming mega auction and the subsequent season.
