Veteran India opener Rohit Sharma arrived in Trivandrum on Thursday, September 24, ahead of the upcoming ODI series against the West Indies. India are set to host the Caribbean side in a multi-format white-ball series comprising three ODIs and five T20Is. The opening ODI will be played in Trivandrum on Sunday, September 27.
While several members of the Indian squad had already reached the venue, Rohit travelled separately and arrived later. The former India captain was spotted at Trivandrum airport under tight security as he made his way out of the terminal.
Rohit kept his airport look casual, wearing a black T-shirt, jeans, white shoes and a cap. Several security personnel accompanied the star batter as he left the airport and headed towards his car. Before departing for the team hotel, Rohit acknowledged the fans and paparazzi waiting outside, waving and smiling as he got into the vehicle.

The three-match ODI series will continue in Guwahati on Wednesday, September 30, before concluding with the final game in New Chandigarh on Saturday, October 3. The series carries added importance for Shubman Gill and his teammates as India begin their preparations for the 2027 ODI World Cup. Having suffered a series defeat away against England, the Indian team will be looking to regain momentum on home soil.

Rohit Sharma will also be keen to continue the momentum from his most recent ODI appearance. The veteran opener struggled for runs in the first two matches against England, registering scores of 11 and 26. However, he responded emphatically in the final ODI at Lord’s.
The right-hander produced a superb 138 off 110 deliveries, smashing 17 fours and five sixes at a strike rate of 125.45. Rohit will now look to carry that form into the West Indies series.

With questions continuing around his place in India’s plans for the 2027 World Cup, the three ODIs could hold significant personal importance for the experienced opener. His record against the West Indies in ODIs provides further confidence. Rohit has scored 1,613 runs in 35 innings at an impressive average of 57.60, including three centuries and 12 half-centuries. His highest score against them is 162.
