Rohit’s record at Wankhede is exemplary. He is India’s second-highest T20I run-scorer at the stadium and has amassed 2,295 IPL runs here, averaging 34.25 with a strike rate of 136.76. The ground also holds a special place in his Test career, as he scored his second Test century at Wankhede in 2013 during only his second match at the venue.

In a video shared by the Mumbai Cricket Association on their X handle, Rohit shared his sentiments: “On January 19, Wankhede celebrates its 50th anniversary. It’s a very proud moment for all Mumbaikars, especially those associated with Mumbai cricket. Personally, this ground holds a special place in my heart. I started my age-group cricket here, and it’s been an incredible journey since.”

He reminisced about the venue’s evolution: “When I first played here, the old stadium had its own charm. Now, it has grown to host countless special moments for Indian cricket, Mumbai Indians, and Mumbai’s age-group teams. I wish everyone the best for the coming years and hope we create many more memories here.”

Rohit has been at Wankhede recently, practicing with Mumbai’s Ranji Trophy team. This has fueled speculation about his potential return to domestic cricket after almost a decade. On Wednesday, he was also spotted sprinting at Bandra Kurla Complex.
