Rohit Sharma Comes In Support Of BCCI Decision To Suspend IPL

After the postponement of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021, many franchises have been coming forward with overwhelming support for the Indian people during the deadly second wave of the novel coronavirus. The official social media handle of defending champions Mumbai Indians also shared a video on Instagram in which skipper, Rohit Sharma hailed the Board of control for cricket India’s (BCCI) decision to suspend the tournament.

Along with Sharma, Jasprit Bumrah, Adam Milne, Jayant Yadav, Shane Bond, and Robin Singh can also be seen featuring in the video and praising the decision.

The BCCI and the IPL governing council decided to indefinitely suspend the 14th edition of the T20 extravaganza due to a surge in coronavirus cases in the country. The decision to adjourn IPL indefinitely was taken on May 4 when a total of four IPL cricketers were confirmed to have tested positive along with several members of the team staff as well as the ground staff.

Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) cricketers, Varun Chakravarthy and Sandeep Warrier, Delhi Capitals'(DC) Amit Mishra, and SunRisers Hyderabad’s (SRH) Wriddhiman Saha were the players who to infected for the novel coronavirus. Chennai Super Kings (CSK) coaches, Mike Hussey and Lakshmipathy Balaji also tested positive. All the test players and the members of support staff are undergoing a minimum of the 10-day quarantine period.
