India’s new limited-overs skipper, Rohit Sharma said that his predecessor Virat Kohli has always led the team from the front and he has created a legacy from which there is no looking back from the team. Rohit said that Kohli always led the team from the front every time they stepped onto the park and he is looking forward to playing with the 33-year-old in the upcoming games.
In the video shared on the official website of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), Rohit Sharma said, “He has put the team in a situation where there is no looking back. Those five years that he led the team, he led from the front every time we stepped on to the park. There was clear grit and determination to win every game. That was the message to the entire squad.”

Rohit was Kohli’s deputy skipper in limited-overs cricket for the duration of the latter’s captaincy, which started in a full time capacity in January 2017 with MS Dhoni deciding to hang his boots from the captaincy of all the formats.
With 4906 runs in just 84 matches at an average of 64.55, the pair have often been seen taking a team to comfortable winning positions numerous times by building some of the most prolific ODI partnerships of all time. They are also India’s second most successful ODI batting pair after Rohit and Shikhar Dhawan.

Talking about the same, Rohit Sharma said, “We had a great time playing under him. I have played a lot of cricket with him and enjoyed each and every moment and I will still continue to do that. We need to keep getting better as a team and as individuals and that will be the focus for not just me but for the entire squad moving forward.”
