With the Champions Trophy concluded, all eyes are now on the IPL, but cricket fans are keen to know the future of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli. Both veterans are in the twilight phase of their careers, and speculation regarding their future is rife. For Rohit, the tournament was one more feather in his cap as he won his second ICC title as captain and his fourth in international cricket overall.

Indian captain also played a match-winning innings in the final against New Zealand, which proved how important he is to the side. In a report by Cricbuzz, Rohit is also interested in continuing playing beyond the near future. Although he has already made it official that he won’t retire from ODIs, he is now also said to be planning on remaining fit until the 2027 World Cup.

The 37-year-old is also dedicated to carrying on his Test career and has been working extra hard under the advice of his past Mumbai teammate and coach, Abhishek Nayar, in order to preserve his physical as well as technical acumen. Regardless of his credentials, Rohit’s shape has been problematic.

In the initial games of the Champions Trophy 2025, Rohit Sharma was short of consistency, scoring only 180 runs in five games at an average of 36. He did deliver in the final, but his performances in the lead-up were not in his flow best. His Test form has also been shaky with a poor performance in the recent Border-Gavaskar Trophy.

Actually, he completed the series with the worst average ever for an Indian captain to visit Australia. With his desire for success, Rohit will look forward to redressing these weaknesses in future tasks.
