The Indian skipper, Rohit Sharma was seen emulating veteran South African batter, Faf du Plessis in the Indian dressing room during the first Test match of the two-match Test series against Dimuth Karunaratne-led Sri Lanka at the Punjab Cricket Association IS Bindra Stadium, Mohali, Chandigarh, on Friday, March 4. Earlier in the game, Rohit Sharma had won the toss and decided to bat first.

Rohit Sharma is leading India for the very first time in the longest format of the game. He was appointed as Test captain of the team after Virat Kohli resigned from his role following the Test series defeat in South Africa. He becomes the 35th Indian player to lead the team in the purest format of the game and he is overall only 5th Indian cricketer after Virender Sehwag, MS Dhoni, Virat Kohli, and Ajinkya Rahane to lead India in all 3 formats.
