Rohit Sharma believes his team’s journey through the last three ICC white-ball tournaments deserves recognition, highlighting the resilience and consistency they’ve displayed. Under his leadership, India reached the finals of the 2023 ODI World Cup, the 2024 T20 World Cup, and the Champions Trophy. While they fell short in the ODI World Cup final, they bounced back by securing back-to-back ICC titles in the following two tournaments.

Reflecting on this achievement, Rohit pointed out how rare it is for a team to maintain such dominance on the global stage. “Look at what this team has achieved in these three big tournaments,” Rohit Sharma said in a video shared by Mumbai Indians.

He added, “We played 24 matches and lost only once—that too in a World Cup final. Imagine if we had won that as well. Going undefeated in three ICC tournaments is unheard of, but even with this record, I’ll take it. Winning 23 out of 24 games is something special. From the outside, it looks great, but within the team, we’ve faced many challenges.”

Rohit Sharma emphasized the importance of acknowledging the hard work and sacrifices of the players who contributed to this remarkable run.

“We went through tough times, but that’s why we have to celebrate these victories. Every player who played in these three tournaments deserves respect for what they’ve done,” he added.

According to Rohit, India’s rise to dominance began after their painful semifinal exit in the 2022 T20 World Cup against England. That loss became the foundation for a cultural shift within the team, leading to a clearer vision and a fearless brand of cricket.

“It started in 2022 when we lost to England in the semis. We didn’t make the final, but from that point, we defined our expectations for the players. We gave them clarity about their roles and created an environment where they could play without fear,” Rohit Sharma explained. “There were setbacks, we lost a few series, but we never panicked. We stuck to our process and believed in our approach.”

Rohit Sharma has now led India to two ICC trophies in just nine months, a testament to his leadership and the team’s adaptability. He stressed that success comes from constant introspection and learning from past failures.

“When you’re building a squad, you need to ask, ‘What does the team need? Where did we fall short before? Why didn’t we get the result?’ Those are the questions we continuously try to answer,” he said.

With India’s recent success, Rohit has cemented his place as one of the most successful captains in modern cricket, proving that setbacks are just stepping stones to greater achievements.
