In a recent appearance on The Great Indian Kapil Show on Netflix, Team India skipper Rohit Sharma delighted fans with amusing anecdotes from his cricketing journey. Among the topics discussed was a humorous revelation about requests from fellow cricketers to refrain from hitting sixes, as their girlfriends were in attendance. However, Rohit humorously disclosed that despite such appeals, he never altered his game, as his wife, Ritika Sajdeh, is always present, making her support his priority.
“Yes, of course, we have had conversations like this but I tell them that, ‘While it’s your girlfriend present at the stadium, I have my wife watching the match.’ She sits with her fingers crossed during the whole match. So, she is more important for me,” Rohit Sharma shared.

During the light-hearted exchange, Ritika was also queried about managing Rohit as a husband versus managing him as a cricketer. With a smile, she revealed, “As a husband. As a captain, he has his team to manage him. I don’t have to do anything.” In response, Rohit Sharma quipped with a witty remark, suggesting his wife’s role as the captain of their household. “She can’t enter the field or the dressing room but I have to enter the house. She is the captain there,” he playfully added.
The conversation shifted to Team India’s ODI World Cup 2023 campaign, where Rohit reflected on the team’s performance leading up to the finals. He described the pre-match atmosphere as one of confidence and momentum, akin to being on autopilot. However, despite a promising start, Australia’s resilient partnership in the summit clash tipped the scales in their favour, snatching victory from India’s grasp.

Reflecting on the pivotal match, Rohit Sharma highlighted the significance of building scoreboard pressure in crucial encounters. “I feel that in big matches if you are able to score runs and create pressure on the opposite team, it is good as any team can slip under pressure. But Australia played good cricket,” he remarked, acknowledging the opponents’ formidable performance despite India’s initial success in the match.
With humour and insight, Rohit Sharma’s appearance on the show provided fans with entertaining anecdotes and glimpses into the dynamics of cricketing life, both on and off the field.
