Indian ODI captain Rohit Sharma is enjoying a well-deserved break with his family in Mumbai after officially retiring from Tests and T20Is earlier this year. The 38-year-old batting maestro, who led India to two ICC titles in the last 18 months, recently participated in Ganpati celebrations, where a heartwarming moment with fans has gone viral.

A video circulating on social media shows Rohit, with folded hands, humbly asking fans not to chant “Mumbai cha Raja Rohit Sharma,” a phrase they often use to celebrate his stardom and contributions to Indian cricket. The clip has received wide appreciation from fans, who lauded Rohit’s humility despite his legendary status.
Rohit, one of the greatest ODI batters of his generation with 11,000-plus runs in the format, was last seen in action during the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 final against New Zealand in Dubai. He top-scored in the summit clash with a match-winning 76, leading India to their third Champions Trophy title in 27 years and earning the Player of the Match award.

Additionally, Rohit is closing in on a record in the six-hitting charts. With 344 sixes in ODIs, he needs eight more to surpass Shahid Afridi and become the all-time leader for most ODI sixes—a feat that would further cement his reputation as one of the most destructive batters in white-ball cricket.
