Mumbai Indians (MI) have finally managed to register their second win of the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) as they defeated Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) by 48 runs in the 13th match of the season. With the win, Mumbai has now reached the numero uno position in the IPL 2020 points table and the team will now look forward to carrying this momentum in the tournament.
After winning the toss, the KXIP skipper, KL Rahul invited MI to bat first. Initially, the Mumbai Indians’ skipper Rohit Sharma scored a scintillating half-century despite the team reeling at 21 for 2 by the end of 4 overs. Rohit Sharma and Ishan Kishan then shared 64 runs for the third wicket before the latter departed.

While wickets were falling at regular intervals from the other end, Rohit didn’t give up before getting out in the 17th over. Later on, Kieron Pollard and Hardik Pandya emerged as the brothers of destruction as Mumbai finished on a fighting score of 191-4 in their 20 overs. In the last six over, MI smashed as many as 104 runs for losing just one wicket.
During the chase, KXIP started on a high note as Mayank Agarwal and KL Rahul had smashed 33 runs in the first three overs itself. However, the joy didn’t latest long as Jasprit Bumrah was knocked out Agarwal in the 5th over, and later on, KXIP batsmen succumbed to great pressure as the first wicket fell down.

Match Summary:
Mumbai Indians – 191/4 in 20 overs (R Sharma: 70, K Pollard: 47; S Cottrell: 1/20) defeated Kings XI Punjab – 143/8 in 20 overs (N Pooran: 44; J Bumrah: 2/18, R Chahar: 2/26) 48 runs.

Except Quinton @mipaltan clinical. Pollard and Hardik clearly the two best finishers and Krunal and Chahar were both excellent with Bumrah getting the key wicket. Lots of positives for @ImRo45 from this game. #Mi

KXIP will end tonight with just 2 points from 4 games. Their 3 losses include a 1-to-win-off-3 vs DC, a heist by RR where they conceded 82 from 4, and 4 more death overs today that cost them 84. Could cost them dearly in what's likely to be a very tight #IPL2020 league stage.

Good overs by @krunalpandya24 and @Jaspritbumrah93. The ball is gripping a bit while @rdchahar1 is bowling but it may stop in some time when the dew makes the seam wet. The ball will start skidding on to the bat.#KXIPvMI #IPL2020

Pandya-Pollard scored around 65 in last 5 overs after Rohit got out! Game-changing partnership. #KXIP #KXIPvsMI #IPL2020

This #KXIPvMI match is 10 minutes short of clocking four hours. Last 2/3 matches have also clocked 3.5hrs each. DC and RCB captains were penalised for slow proceedings.
Abysmal over rates continuing in #IPL2020.
