The Indian Premier League (IPL) has been one of the most-followed tournaments in the world. In the last ten years, it has transformed cricket like no other tournament and has raised the overall standards of the game. Indeed, it has been a highly successful tournament for the domestic tournament despite all the controversies that came along. Often, for leagues like these, it is the players who tend to have a huge influence on their success.

The IPL has been witnessing some of the biggest cricketing stars take part in it. Young and experienced players from all corners of the world have featured in the tournament through these ten years. Some of them have managed to make an ever-lasting impact on the league this decade. Wisden picked the IPL XI of the decade – a team that comprises all manner of record-breakers.

It is always tough to pick the best IPL team captain between Rohit Sharma and MS Dhoni. Rohit has led his team to lift the trophy four times in such a short time. The other has led his team to the playoffs on every occasion (except once when he represented the Rising Pune Supergiant) and also won the title thrice. However, Wisden went ahead with Rohit as the skipper.

Sharma will open the innings with the destructive Chris Gayle. Mr. IPL, Suresh Raina, is a no-brainer at three followed by Virat Kohli at four. AB de Villiers is next in the batting order and MS Dhoni will once again take the role of a finisher. He will also keep the wickets in this eleven. Given the all-round package that he is, Wisden picked Ravindra Jadeja next in the line-up.

Next to follow is KKR’s mystery spinner Sunil Narine who has had a great impact on the tournament. The highest wicket-taker, Lasith Malinga, is a must and has been a forever match-winner. Bhuvneshwar Kumar also finds a place and Wisden believes he is the under-rated IPL player of the decade. Jasprit Bumrah will complete this eleven while Dwayne Bravo is the 12th man.

Wisden’s IPL XI: Rohit Sharma (c), Chris Gayle, Suresh Raina, Virat Kohli, AB de Villiers, MS Dhoni (wk), Ravindra Jadeja, Sunil Narine, Lasith Malinga, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Jasprit Bumrah. 12th Man: Dwayne Bravo.
