During the 31st match of the 11th season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) between Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and Mumbai Indians (MI) at Bengaluru, Rohit Sharma, captain of Mumbai Indians, grabbed a low catch to draw first blood against Royal Challengers.

Earlier, Sharma had won the toss and chose to field. Kieron Pollard, who was left out from the playing eleven in the last match, was included in place of injured Evin Lewis. For the Royal Challengers, Washington Sundar came back into the playing eleven in place of Murugan Ashwin.

Quinton de Kock, who opened the batting with a new batting partner in Manan Vohra, was the first batsman to fall. He got out on the final delivery of the fifth over after he played a Mitchell McClenaghan delivery low to Sharma at short midwicket. McClenaghan affected his first dismissal in his second over as de Kock ended up scoring 7 (13).

There was less clarity as to whether the catch was cleanly taken or not. Even the fielder wasn’t sure about whether he had taken it without the ball touching the ground. Credit goes to Sharma who didn’t claim the catch on the first go and wanted to check with the third umpire once.
