Rohit Sharma Overtakes Virat Kohli In ICC ODI Rankings For The First Time

Indian skipper Rohit Sharma has been in tremendous form of late, and his batting exploits in the ongoing ODI World Cup 2023 have been rewarded with a rise in the ICC ODI rankings. Sharma is currently ranked sixth, the first time he has overtaken star batter Virat Kohli in the 50-over format, who is currently in the ninth position.

Sharma has scored two centuries in the World Cup so far, a record-breaking 131 against Afghanistan and 86 against arch-rivals Pakistan. Kohli, on the other hand, has also been in good touch, scoring 85 against Australia.

South African opener and wicketkeeper-batter Quinton de Kock, who is playing his last ODI assignment, has also made a significant impact in the tournament. He has scored two consecutive centuries against Sri Lanka and Australia, respectively, and has jumped three spots higher in the ODI rankings to take the third position.

Meanwhile, star left-arm pacer Trent Boult has been having a good run at the World Cup, taking three wickets while being economical. He has advanced a position higher in the rankings and is now only behind Aussie pacer Josh Hazlewood, who holds the top spot.
