Sharing his perspective with journalist Vimal Kumar, Rohit revealed the three pinnacles of his journey: India’s triumphant T20 World Cup campaign in 2007 under MS Dhoni’s leadership, the historic CB series victory in Australia in 2008, and most recently, India’s resounding win in the 2024 T20 World Cup with him at the helm.

“It’s been a 17-year journey,” Rohit Sharma acknowledged in a video uploaded by Kumar on Instagram. “There have been countless special moments along the way, from that first year in 2007, winning the World Cup, to the following year conquering the CB series in Australia.”

He continued with a touch of realism, “Naturally, there have been tough periods too. That’s the nature of a sportsperson’s career; there’s bound to be both ups and downs. But for me, it’s about cherishing all the highs I’ve experienced over these 17 years. And winning this World Cup (2024) definitely takes the top spot.”

Rohit Sharma’s international T20I debut came against England in Durban on September 19, 2007. His first significant contribution with the bat arrived the very next day against South Africa, where he struck a half-century. The 2007 T20 World Cup final against Pakistan saw him contribute a valuable unbeaten 30 off just 16 deliveries.

The 2008 CB series witnessed Rohit’s brilliance once again. Batting at number 5 in the first final, he smashed a crucial 66, guiding India to a successful chase of 240 runs within 45.5 overs and securing a 1-0 lead in the series.
