Team India captain Rohit Sharma responded to whether veteran off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin will be in the playing XI in the press conference ahead of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 final against Australia at the world’s largest cricket stadium – Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. However, Ashwin came into the team in place of Axar Patel who was ruled out with an injury.
The veteran off-spinner then played in one game in the World Cup, which was India’s tournament opener against the Aussies in Chennai as well.

Rohit Sharma said: “We haven’t decided on it. We will assess the pitch and will see it again tomorrow. Our 12-13 are decided. But we will come and see what is our strength. We will decide tomorrow.”
Rohit Sharma also added that they have been very calm in the lead-up to every game in the World Cup. He again shared that as Indian cricketer, they always remain under pressure but the team management successfully keep a calm environment in the dressing room as well.

“Leading up to every game, we have been calm and composed about what we want to do. We know what the outside environment is, the expectations, and pressure. It’s important to stick to our game and this has been happening for a long time,” Rohit Sharma concluded. “We have worked on maintaining the calmness in the dressing room. Inside what they feel, I don’t know, how they’ll be feeling. But when in meetings, trainings, everyone is calm. Being an Indian cricketer, you have to deal with pressure.”
