Rohit is expected to be rested from the three-match ODI series against the West Indies. Looking at the workload of Rohit Sharma, who has played 16 matches in the IPL, 10 matches in the World Cup, four consecutive Tests and dozens of ODIs and T20 matches, the team management wants to comfort him as Team India will visit New Zealand early next year.

Sharma had expressed his desire to play in the ODI series against West Indies from December 15, but the team management persuaded him and advised him to rest. In such a situation, it can be expected that Mayank Agarwal, who has scored his best as a Test opener, is likely to be given a chance in ODI cricket in place of Rohit.

Mayank Agarwal was selected as an opener replacement in the World Cup 2019, but he did not play. In such a situation, Mayank can make a place in the ODI team because of his aggressive style. According to a Mumbai Mirror report, Mayank will get a chance to replace Rohit in ODIs. The Indian selectors are to announce Team India for the ODI and T20I series in Kolkata on 21 November.
