This series marks a significant comeback for both Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, who are returning to the ODI format after an eight-month hiatus. Following India’s triumphant campaign in the T20 World Cup, Rohit and Kohli had taken a well-deserved break, spending time with their families.

Rohit Sharma vacationed in the USA with his wife Ritika Sajdeh and daughter Samaira, while Kohli enjoyed his time in London. Rohit and Kohli, both having announced their retirement from T20Is after the World Cup victory, are now focused on the ODI format.

They aim to build a formidable team as they look ahead to the Champions Trophy, set to begin early next year. Rohit, known for his strategic acumen and leadership, will be crucial in this transition phase. In addition to Rohit and Kohli, Shreyas Iyer also makes his return to the ODI squad after being left out of the BCCI’s annual contract list.
