Rohit Sharma, known for his elegance with the bat and composed presence on the field, recently opened up about the moment he delivered one of the most significant ‘innings’ of his life — proposing to Ritika Sajdeh. And true to his nature, the former India Test captain did it with a heartfelt, cricket-inspired twist.

On an episode of Who’s The Boss?, hosted by Harbhajan Singh and Geeta Basra, Rohit recounted how he told Ritika they were going out for ice cream. “She brought some food from home, and we started driving,” he recalled. “We passed Marine Drive, Haji Ali, Dadar, and Bandra. She kept asking where the ice cream shop was. She had no clue what was coming.”

Instead of dessert, Ritika arrived at a place deeply connected to Rohit’s cricket journey — the ground where his career began. “It was dark, and she didn’t realise it was a cricket ground,” Rohit said. “I had already asked a friend to decorate the pitch and be there to capture the moment. I proposed to her right in the middle of the pitch, on one knee.”

The couple tied the knot in 2015, and their story has since been a fan favourite. They have two children — daughter Samaira, born in 2018, and son Aahaan, born in 2023.

Rohit, now focusing solely on 50-over cricket after retiring from Tests and T20Is, is currently on a break following a challenging IPL season with Mumbai Indians. He is expected to return in India’s ODI tour to Bangladesh in August, leading the side once again. As he eyes the 2027 ODI World Cup in South Africa as his final international assignment, Rohit’s legacy is growing — both on and off the pitch.
