Speaking to Shubman Gill after India’s fourth win in the World Cup, Rohit Sharma revealed that the team management was thinking of sending allrounder Shardul Thakur ahead of designated No. 5 batter KL Rahul. But Rohit Sharma had to make a last-minute change to the plan after Shreyas Iyer’s dismissal. The dismissal did not give Thakur enough time to get ready.

“He got out on that ball only. I said on that ball only that Shardul, You will go but by the time he went down…,” said Rohit Sharma in a video shared by the BCCI. “Fans were really disappointed. Everyone wants to see Shardul’s batting. It will come, he is a big match player,” he added.

Rohit Sharma’s revelation has sparked a debate among fans and experts on whether or not India should change their batting order. Some people believe that India should promote Shardul Thakur up the order to make the most of his batting ability. Others believe that India should stick to their current batting order, which has been working well for them so far.

Only time will tell whether or not India will change their batting order for their next match against New Zealand. However, one thing is for sure: Rohit Sharma and the team management are not afraid to experiment if they need to.
