Team India finally beat Bangladesh in the second T20I at Rajkot on Thursday and equalled the series 1-1. After Bangladesh got off to a flying start, it was the spin duo of Washington Sundar and Yuzvendra Chahal who restricted them within 153. Their performance impressed Rohit Sharma who praised them.
“Both the spinners are very smart and they understand their bowling really well. They always have conversations with coach and the captain as how to improve. They played a lot of domestic cricket. Sundar has been our new ball bowler and today I wanted to change it considering how big the ground is,” he added.
Rohit Sharma smashed 85 from 43 balls and made the foundation for India’s win.
“Always knew this is a good track to bat on and with dew coming in it will be difficult for the bowlers to grip the ball and we took maximum advantage of that. I never underestimate the opposition, particularly the bowlers… all these years I have only tried to do my best when I have the bat in my hand. I knew the conditions were perfect and there was no turn on offer, all I wanted to do was remain stationed and tonk the ball,” he said.

His knock came in his 100th T20I game where India won by 8 wickets. Rohit Sharma hit 6 fours and 6 sixes in his knock. After his Man of the Match performance, Rohit Sharma spoke about this on the Chahal TV.
“When I hit three consecutive sixes, I tried to go for six maximums. But when I missed the fourth one, I decided I will take singles,” said Rohit.

“You don’t need huge body and muscles to hit big sixes. Even you (Chahal) can hit sixes. Power is not the only thing you need to hit sixes, you need timing as well. The ball should hit the middle of the bat and your head should be still. So, there are a number of things you need in order to hit a six,” he added.
Rohit Sharma now holds the record for most sixes by an India captain in T20I cricket as he has scored 37 sixes in just 17 innings, surpassing MS Dhoni’s 34 (62 innings). Virat Kohli, however, is in the third place with 26 sixes (26 innings).
“It was very important from us to give a good start to the team as it is often seen that a set batsman wins the match for the team. I was a little unhappy that I got out at the wrong time. But nevertheless, I am happy with my performance as well as that of the team because we were under a lit bit of pressure. We had lost the first match in Delhi and it was important to win here in Rajkot,” Rohit Sharma concluded.
