India found themselves thoroughly outplayed by Australia in the first innings of the third Test at The Gabba in Brisbane. After the opening day was washed out due to rain, Day 2 belonged entirely to the hosts, who posted a daunting 445 runs thanks to commanding centuries by Travis Head and Steven Smith. On Day 3, India sought to wrap up the Australian innings quickly but faced mounting frustration as Alex Carey proved unyielding in his approach.

Despite being the last recognized batter, Alex Carey stood firm against India’s bowling attack, refusing to concede his wicket easily. During this tense phase, Akash Deep was tasked with delivering a decisive blow.

India eventually managed to bowl Australia out for 445, but their batting struggles persisted. Australia’s fiery pace attack dismantled the Indian top order with alarming ease. Yashasvi Jaiswal, Shubman Gill, and Virat Kohli all fell cheaply, scoring 4, 1, and 3 runs, respectively, leaving India reeling at 22/3 before rain provided a reprieve.
When play resumed, the situation worsened for the visitors. Rishabh Pant was dismissed for just 9 runs, compounding India’s woes as another rain interruption halted proceedings. By the end of the day, India was precariously placed at 44/4, still trailing by a massive 397 runs.
