Entering IPL 2024 with the leadership responsibilities lifted off his shoulders, Rohit Sharma faced immense pressure to excel as a batsman. Despite his stellar record as MI’s captain, clinching five IPL titles, Sharma’s recent batting form has been a cause for concern.

In the initial matches of the tournament, Sharma appeared in sublime touch, showcasing his prowess with the bat and even notching up a century against Chennai Super Kings. However, his form took a downturn in subsequent games, failing to deliver impactful performances.

In the clash against SRH, Rohit Sharma managed just 4 runs off 5 balls before falling to Pat Cummins’ delivery. Attempting to flick a length ball towards the leg side, Sharma mistimed his shot, resulting in a straightforward catch for Heinrich Klaasen.

This dismissal marked the fourth occasion Pat Cummins has claimed Sharma’s wicket in T20 matches. In a total of 9 innings, Sharma has accumulated 57 runs in 41 balls against Cummins, averaging 14.25.

Former Indian opener Aakash Chopra expressed apprehension over Sharma’s recent form, emphasizing the importance of a strong showing against SRH. Chopra highlighted Sharma’s struggle against left-arm seamers and urged for a significant contribution from the Indian team’s T20 captain.
