A heartwarming moment between India captain Rohit Sharma and Lucknow Super Giants’ youngster Abdul Samad has captured the internet’s attention. Ahead of their clash on Sunday, April 27, in Mumbai, Rohit was seen offering valuable batting tips to Samad, showcasing the senior player’s willingness to mentor the next generation.

It’s a familiar sight — Rohit had a similar chat with Abhishek Sharma earlier this season, while MS Dhoni and Virat Kohli have also been spotted guiding young players like Ashutosh Sharma and Vipraj Nigam respectively. In a video shared by LSG, Rohit patiently explained the nuances of reading conditions to Samad.

“Hit it either off this leg or that leg. Every wicket has a pace; it changes every day. Today, with more humidity, there will be moisture. If it’s less humid and windy, the pitch plays better for batting. But you can only understand that once the match begins,” Rohit Sharma said, blending experience with simple, practical advice.
The India skipper, who endured a slow start to IPL 2025, has found form just when it matters, with scores of 76* and 70 in his last two innings. His words to Samad reflected the maturity he has gained over years at the top.

“Whatever ability or talent you have, technique is still crucial. Accept that. You can’t play like me, I can’t play like you. You have your unique talent. If you spend your life copying someone else’s technique, you’ll waste precious time. The most important thing is what’s up here,” Rohit Sharma said, pointing to his head — underlining the role of mindset in succeeding at the highest level.

Meanwhile, Mumbai Indians seem to be hitting top gear at the right time. The resurgence of key players like Rohit, Suryakumar Yadav, Trent Boult, and Hardik Pandya is a positive sign for MI fans. Rohit’s improvement in handling the powerplay — punishing the bad balls while being cautious early — has been a big factor behind his recent success.
With momentum building, Mumbai will be a dangerous unit in the business end of the tournament.
