The young Afghanistan leg-spinners Rashid Khan and Mujeeb Ur Rahman were exceptional while plying their trade in the recently concluded Indian Premier League (IPL) for their respective teams. While the former picked up 21 wickets conceding only 6.73 runs per over, Mujeeb proved his worth for the Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) by scalping 14 batsmen and was also economical at the same time.
But their main test will be in the longest format of the game as Afghanistan will play their first-ever Test match later this month. However, Indian batsman Rohit Sharma will be pretty lethal together in Tests. Afghanistan is all set to face the number 1 Test side in the world, India, in their own den from June 14 in the one-off historic game.
The match will be played at M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore as key Indian cricketers have been rested by the selectors. Ajinkya Rahane has been appointed the captain of the team and is expected to come out on the top against the newest entrants in the Test format.

During a chat with India Today, Rohit heaped praises on Rashid Khan and Mujeeb who scalped 35 wickets together in the IPL this year. He said, “I think Rashid and Mujeeb will be a force in Test cricket. Both of them have so much control over where they want to pitch the ball and if the pitch has anything to offer, they will be dangerous.”
However, Rohit backed the Indian batsmen to handle the spin threat of the visitors well. He further added, “We have capable batsmen who can handle spin well. But it will be a challenge for our batsmen to face their spin.”
Unfortunately, Sharma, who is the vice-captain of the limited overs Indian team who has not been included for the one-off Test match.
