Earlier in the game, Rohit Sharma won the toss and asked PBKS to bat first. While, the PBKS skipper, Mayank Agarwal made no changes to their squad. MI made a change by bringing in Tymal Mills for Ramandeep Singh. Mayank alongside his opening partner, Shikhar Dhawan gave a brilliant start as they added 97 runs and they made individual half-centuries as well. Punjab eventually reached a score of 199/6 owing to a late blitz from Hitesh Sharma and Shahrukh Khan.

In the first over the second innings, MI started off well as on the last ball of the over, Rohit Sharma managed to connect the ramp shot pretty well. He had gone on his knee twice in that over itself. The fine leg was pretty square, and Rohit has got this fine enough bat on the ball to smash it for a six.
