Indian captain Rohit Sharma was recently seen engaging in a running session at Mumbai’s Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC) on Wednesday, sparking fresh speculation about his fitness and future. A local bystander captured a video of the session and shared it on social media, where it quickly went viral. Accompanied by a personal trainer, Rohit was seen having a brief discussion before sprinting across the park.

This appearance followed his earlier practice session with the Mumbai Ranji Trophy team at the Wankhede Stadium. Rohit Sharma’s training has fueled rumours about his potential participation in the 2025 Ranji Trophy amid concerns about his recent dip in Test form. However, no official announcement has been made about his inclusion in the Mumbai squad.

Adding to the intrigue is uncertainty over Rohit’s broader international future, as reports earlier suggested he was considering retiring from Test cricket after the 2024-25 Border-Gavaskar Trophy. Rohit, however, dismissed such claims, stating he has no immediate plans to step away from the game.

His immediate focus lies on the upcoming home white-ball series against England. While Rohit has retired from T20Is, the three-match T20I series will run from January 22 to February 2, followed by three ODIs starting on February 6. Beyond that, India faces the 2025 Champions Trophy in the UAE and a demanding five-Test series in England.

Australian cricket great Adam Gilchrist recently weighed in on Rohit’s future during the Club Prairie Fire podcast. “I don’t see Rohit going to England,” he remarked. “He might assess things when he gets home, but with a two-month-old baby waiting for him, it might incentivize him to press on. However, I think the Champions Trophy might be his final outing.”
