The Indian men’s cricket team received a scare when Rohit Sharma sustained an injury during practice prior to the World Test Championship (WTC) final against Australia at The Oval in London. During a net session, Rohit was struck on his left thumb, prompting immediate attention from Team India physio Kamalesh Jain. After receiving some treatment and putting his gloves back on, Rohit initially returned to the nets but quickly decided to withdraw.
K Shriniwas Rao, the News18 Group Editor Sports present at The Oval, reported that Rohit did not resume practice as the Indian team was wrapping up their session. The extent of Rohit’s injury will be assessed again when the team returns to the hotel, but it is expected that he will be able to play in the match.

Despite being named in India’s squad for a home ODI series against Sri Lanka in January, Bumrah has been ruled out once again and also missed the entire IPL 2023. Rishabh Pant, the talented wicketkeeper-batsman, suffered a serious car accident in December of the previous year, resulting in head, knee, and shin injuries that required over a month of hospitalization.
While Pant has been steadily recovering and has even attended some IPL 2023 matches, his return to the field remains uncertain. Despite the potential setback caused by Rohit’s injury, the Indian captain expressed his determination to win the championship during a pre-match press conference.
