The Indian team is raring to lock horns with England in the second semi-final of the T20 World Cup 2022 at the Adelaide Oval. The Men in Blue arrived in South Australia on Monday, November 7 for the knockout match and began their preparations on Tuesday. However, it wasn’t a piece of good news for the men in blue and its fans as there could be a potential injury scare after a huge blow to skipper Rohit Sharma in the nets.

Team India skipper Rohit Sharma was hit on his right forearm in the nets as he was immediately attended to by the physios. The news agency ANI shared the pictures where Rohit is seen sitting on the sidelines after being hit while facing throwdowns. Rohit had an ice pack on and after a few minutes, he decided to resume his batting. However, the attempt was futile as he aborted the session after playing just one delivery and went back for some additional nursing.

Here is the video of the incident:

The skipper returned after an hour or so and started playing his shots again and it can be termed as a very good sight for the fans and the team management as the second ice pack seemed to have done its trick. The team will hope that the blow is not serious and that skipper is fully fit in a couple of days’ time to lead the side.

Rohit may not have been in great form in the ongoing tournament, scoring just 89 runs in five matches including a half-century against the Netherlands, but Team India will require his solidity at the top facing the likes of Mark Wood and Chris Woakes as India can’t afford another injury setback.

The Indian team already endured a couple of major blows owing to injuries as all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja (knee) and speedster Jasprit Bumrah (back) were ruled out of the tournament.

However, Team India has been able to fill the gaps left by these two as they were at the numero uno position in Group 2 with four wins and now will be up against a strong England side. India was knocked out of the Super 12 last year and this is the fourth time in eighth edition of the T20 World Cup that they have qualified for the semi-finals. The last time India and England met in a T20 World Cup, was back in 2012, 10 years ago.
