India’s deputy skipper in ODIs and T20Is, Rohit Sharma has requested the Indian citizens to do their bit on Saturday for Earth Hour as the whole world battles the deadly Coronavirus pandemic. Due to the deadly virus, the world has come to a halt, leading to a healthier atmosphere due to less pollution on roads.
Taking to Twitter, Sharma made a request to the people to switch off the lights for one hour and help in saving electricity. Rohit has been spending quality time with his family as the Indian government has announced a 21-day lockdown to fight the coronavirus outbreak and in a chat session with Kevin Pietersen, the Mumbai Indians skipper revealed that he has been helping in household chores.

In a video posted by Mumbai Indians, Rohit tells Pietersen: “I don’t remember when was the last time I did housework. But I went cleaning and it took me around 2 hours. Cleaning the house is not easy man.”

On Tuesday, the Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi had announced a nationwide three-week lockdown and a lot of people applauded the step. Most of the sporting events around the world have either been delayed or canceled as the coronavirus cases continue to rise.

Moreover, the BCCI delayed the start of the 13th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) amid mounting anxiety in India over the coronavirus pandemic. The start of the IPL has been put back from March 29 until April 15 “as a precautionary measure” over the coronavirus, the Indian cricket board said.
