The match started with a bit of controversy during the toss, reminiscent of issues seen in the recently-concluded IPL.The incident at the toss began right after the coin was flipped. Ireland captain Paul Stirling called heads, and match referee David Boon initially declared that Stirling had made the correct call.

However, Boon quickly reversed his decision, stating that Rohit Sharma had actually won the toss, causing some confusion and raising eyebrows. After winning the toss, India decided to bowl first.

Rohit Sharma, speaking about the decision, said, “We’re going to bowl. Preparations have been alright. We have been managing ourselves in these new conditions. “I know it’s going to be slightly different from what we’re used to. But that’s what the sport is about. Not being entirely sure about the conditions, we thought having a target to chase would be advantageous. The players missing out are Kuldeep, Sanju, Jaiswal, and one more,” Rohit Sharma added.

On the other hand, Paul Stirling commented on Ireland’s approach, saying, “We’ve come with pretty good preparation, having played in the Netherlands recently for the tri-series. We’ve got plenty of match-winners in our side, and we want them to perform today. We’re looking to assess the conditions early.”

This match promises to be an intriguing battle, with both teams eager to start their World Cup journey on a high note. The unexpected drama at the toss has only added to the anticipation and excitement surrounding this clash.
