India skipper Rohit Sharma had a brilliant reaction to Litton Das’ dismissal in the ongoing Super 8 game against Bangladesh at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium, North Sound, Antigua. Batting first, India posted a substantial total of 196 for 5 in their allotted 20 overs. India vice-captain Hardik Pandya starred with the bat, scoring a quickfire half-century to propel the team to its biggest total in the ongoing T20 World Cup 2024 so far.
India was struggling at 108 for 4 at one stage, but Pandya’s brilliant knock took the team to the big total. Apart from him, Virat Kohli (37), Rishabh Pant (36), and Shivam Dube (34) played crucial innings. For Bangladesh, Tanzim Hasan Sakib and Rishad Hossain picked up two wickets each.
In reply, Bangladesh made a promising start to their chase. Litton Das and Tanzid Hasan took the team’s score to 27 runs after 4 overs. In the fifth over, Litton Das hit Hardik Pandya for the first six of the innings. However, Pandya had the last laugh as he dismissed the Bangladesh opener on the very next ball.

Litton walked across to hit the ball towards the leg side but was outfoxed by Pandya’s slower delivery. As a result, Litton couldn’t get the required force to clear the boundary and ended up hitting the ball straight to Suryakumar Yadav at square leg. As soon as Suryakumar completed the catch, Rohit Sharma came up with an animated celebration and let out a roar of triumph.
.@hardikpandya7 does it with the ball too! 🔥
A slower-length ball outside off results in a perfectly planned wicket!

Bangladesh started their Super 8 campaign with a loss against Australia, and another defeat in this game will almost certainly end their chances of making it to the semifinals. On the other hand, India began their campaign in the Super 8 with a win over Afghanistan, and a victory against Bangladesh will effectively seal their spot in the next round.
