“Thank you so much for making it so special. Thanks Polly, Hardik, Surya, Shardul, Mali, coach, and also the rest of you all,” Rohit Sharma said in a video shared by MI on social media. “This is a very, very special team, very, very special franchise and very, very special people involved in this team.”

Rohit, who has led the Mumbai Indians to five IPL titles, made it clear that those trophies were never about individual brilliance alone. In his view, every success story at MI has been built on collective effort, trust and a strong team culture. That backing, he said, helped him evolve not just as a captain but also as a person who learned how to handle responsibility at the highest level.

“Yes, we won five trophies but obviously we all know that it is not possible without an effort of the entire team,” Rohit Sharma said. He also thanked the franchise ownership, including Akash Ambani, for standing by him during key stages of his career. “Their support was very much needed at that point for me to grow as a captain, grow as a player in this franchise,” he added.

Rohit also spoke about the many people who helped him settle into a leadership role and continue developing as an experienced campaigner. He credited the Mumbai Indians’ setup for creating an atmosphere where players are backed and allowed to grow over time.

“Obviously, there’s a lot of people to thank for that. A lot of people helped me grow into that leadership role and also now as a player as well,” he said.
