In a heartwarming moment during India’s Champions Trophy 2025 clash against Bangladesh, skipper Rohit Sharma showcased true sportsmanship. The gesture did not go unnoticed, as fans on social media lauded the Indian captain for his humility and respect for the game.

Bangladesh found themselves in deep trouble early on after winning the toss and electing to bat on February 20. Their innings crumbled to 35/5 within the first nine overs, as India’s bowlers exploited the conditions masterfully. Tanzid Hasan was the only batter to offer resistance at the top, scoring a brisk 25 off 25 balls with four boundaries.

However, his teammates struggled, with Najmul Hossain Shanto, Soumya Sarkar, and Mushfiqur Rahim all departing without scoring. The collapse was initiated by Mohammed Shami, who struck in the very first over by dismissing Sarkar. Young pacer Harshit Rana followed up by sending Bangladesh skipper Shanto back for a duck, celebrating with an animated flying kiss.

Mohammed Shami continued his dominance, removing Mehidy Hasan Miraz for just five runs, inching closer to his 200th ODI wicket. The spin attack then took over, with Axar Patel delivering a game-changing over, dismissing both Tanzid Hasan and Mushfiqur Rahim off consecutive deliveries.

Despite India’s early dominance, Bangladesh found some stability through Towhid Hridoy and Jaker Ali. The duo built a resilient partnership, bringing some much-needed stability to the innings. Their stand crossed the 100-run mark, with both batters notching up fighting half-centuries. However, their survival was not without drama—Rohit Sharma and Hardik Pandya dropped crucial catches, and KL Rahul missed a stumping opportunity, giving Bangladesh a lifeline.

For India, Axar Patel and Mohammed Shami led the attack with two wickets each, while Harshit Rana chipped in with one. India remains in control, but Bangladesh’s middle-order resistance could still make the contest interesting.
