Despite the painful hit, Rohit demonstrated resilience by resuming his practice session after receiving the necessary medical aid. When the ball struck Rohit’s thumb, he promptly removed his glove to assess the injury. The medical team rushed to his side, thoroughly checking the Indian captain.

After ensuring there was no serious damage, Rohit returned to the nets, batting with his usual intensity. His determination to continue practicing highlighted his commitment to leading his team in the crucial upcoming match. The Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in New York, where India played their campaign opener against Ireland, has recently come under scrutiny for its uneven and slow outfield.

Despite these challenges, India had a strong start to their tournament, securing an 8-wicket victory against Ireland. In that match, Rohit Sharma played a pivotal role, scoring 52 runs off 37 balls at an impressive strike rate of 140.54. Unfortunately, his innings was cut short by an injury, forcing him to retire hurt at the end of the 10th over.

Amid growing concerns about the pitch conditions, the International Cricket Council (ICC) issued a statement on Thursday acknowledging the inconsistencies of the surfaces used at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium during the ongoing ICC T20 World Cup. The ICC assured fans and teams that the groundsmen were diligently working to improve the pitch quality and deliver optimal playing conditions for the remaining matches.

The stadium employs a drop-in pitch system, where the pitch is prepared off-site and installed at the venue before the game. This approach has been a focal point of the current pitch issues.

“T20 Inc and the ICC recognize that the pitches used so far at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium have not played as consistently as we would have all wanted,” the ICC stated. “The world-class grounds team has been working hard since the conclusion of yesterday’s game to remedy the situation and deliver the best possible surfaces for the remaining matches,” the statement added.

As the cricket world eagerly awaits the clash between India and Pakistan, all eyes will be on the pitch conditions and Rohit Sharma’s form, both of which could play crucial roles in determining the outcome of this high-stakes encounter.
