Legendary Indian player Sunil Gavaskar has said that Rohit Sharma getting out in the powerplay hurts MI, and his shot selection needs a bit of improvement as well. However, Rohit Sharma hasn’t been in the best of form this season as the MI legend has failed to score well at the top. In 4 matches, Rohit has scored just 38 runs, which came at an average of 9.5 with a highest score of 17.

Speaking to JioHotstar after the MI vs RCB game, Gavaskar said, “Over the next couple of games, they’ll be hoping for a solid knock. Even if he doesn’t get a big score immediately, if he can bat through the power-play into the 8th or 9th over and score a steady 30–40, that will help build confidence.”

Sunil Gavaskar also said that when Rohit Sharma gets out in the powerplay, it also hurts the team that he is playing for. He also feels that Rohit Sharma has so much to contribute, but his shot selection needs to improve as well. Gavaskar also feels that Rohit needs to be aggressive but should take the right risks as well.

“But when he gets out in the powerplay, it hurts — whether it’s for Mumbai Indians, India, or any team he’s playing for. He has so much to contribute. I believe his shot selection needs a bit of tempering. You have to be aggressive and score as much as possible in the first six overs, but choosing the right risks is key. If he finds that balance, he’ll be back to scoring big runs again,” concluded Sunil Gavaskar.
Mumbai Indians will take on Delhi Capitals on April 13.
