Former Chennai Super Kings (CSK) batter Subramaniam Badrinath said that Rohit Sharma should accept the Mumbai Indians (MI) captaincy offer in IPL 2027 as well. Recent reports (via India Today) shared that the franchise will likely reappoint Rohit as captain, replacing Hardik Pandya. However, Rohit led MI from 2013 to 2023 before Hardik took over ahead of IPL 2024. Under Rohit, MI won all five IPL titles as well.

Badrinath said on his YouTube channel, Cric it with Badri, “MI going back to Rohit for captaincy is a huge positive for him. Yet, Rohit should lay some terms and ask for two to three years of captaincy with full freedom. Rohit will definitely feel great knowing MI is coming back to him. If I were Rohit, I would definitely take up the MI captaincy role. Because he’s not going and asking them; they are asking him.”

Subramaniam Badrinath also believes MI should appoint Rohit Sharma as captain, considering his incredible captaincy record as well.

“MI should 100% make Rohit the captain. He is a phenomenal captain, and the numbers just speak for themselves. He is one of the best captains India has ever seen. After Dhoni, I’ll rate Rohit the highest as a white-ball captain. He’s a very lovable person and sets a great culture within the team. Ask any cricketer, and they have a great opinion of Rohit. Everyone says he’s like a big brother you can talk to at any time,” concluded S Badrinath.
