The former New Zealand captain Ross Taylor feels that the Indian top-orders are very crucial in the ODI batting line-up. Apart from the in-form top-order batsmen, the opener Rohit Sharma and the no.3 position batsman and the skipper Virat Kohli, the opener Shikhar Dhawan is also a headache for the New Zealand cricket team, according to Taylor.

Prior to the limited-overs series against India at home, the 34-year-old senior New Zealand cricketer Taylor praised the Indian skipper Kohli. However, he also pointed out that the top three Indian batsmen are really dangerous in ODI cricket.

Taylor told stuff.co.nz, “He’s (Kohli) a sensational player, the best one-day player going around, easily. It’s easy to get caught up in him. You’ve got two pretty good openers at the top, Rohit (Sharma) and Shikhar (Dhawan), before he gets in.”

In the recent limited-overs cricket, the Indian top-order batsmen played important roles for the nation’s success.

On the other hand, Taylor is ready for the upcoming limited-overs home series against India. He is currently in a very good form as he is standing at the no.3 position of ICC ODI batting rankings. In the last two ODI series, against Pakistan in UAE and then against Sri Lanka at home, Taylor was the leading run-scorer in both the series.

However, Taylor has claimed that he has to re-start for the upcoming big home series and he is excited to face the no.2 ICC ODI ranked team.

The New Zealand cricketer said, “I’ve played a few internationals now and understand my role in the team. I’ve worked on my game and try and rotate the strike early and be as busy as I can. Different shots against spinners at different stages have maybe evolved my game in a positive way. But you’re still human and you still have to start again, and it’s exciting against India.”

During the most recent one-off T20I game against Sri Lanka at Auckland, Taylor faced an injury on his little finger. However, he has assured that it was not a serious issue.

Taylor added about that issue, “It’s fine. It looks a lot sorer than it is… no break but the ligaments were a bit sore.”
