Former Indian skipper MS Dhoni is one of the most brutal batsmen, especially in the shortest format of the game. Despite the fact that in recent times his power-hitting prowess has been immensely scrutinized by the fans and the pundits, his contributions for Indian cricket will always be unparalleled. His courageous and unconventional style of batting is what makes him a ferocious contender in the T20 format. With 6075 runs in 297 T20s, he is one of the greats to have played the format.

Moreover, the wicketkeeper-batsman has a maintained an above average strike-rate of 136.18 and has smashed 267 sixes in T20 cricket, numbers which gave the testimony of his ability. Among Indians, he is the third highest six hitter after the hitman Rohit Sharma and Suresh Raina, who have 313 and 299 sixes to their names respectively. However, New Zealand cricketer Ross Taylor recently overtook MS in that department.

The Kiwi batsman has now smashed as many as 271 sixes in 248 matches in a career which started around 12 years ago, i.e., in 2006, the same year when Dhoni started his T20 career. Taylor whacked left-arm fast-bowler Sheldon Cottrell over backward point to get past Mahi’s record. Thereafter he went on to clear the ropes three more times to eventually score 51 runs. The knock helped his team to reach a total of 178 runs, which they comfortably defended by 47 runs. In the meantime, the Black Cap has the opportunity to add to the numbers as the Tallawahs still has quite a few matches left.

As far as hitting sixes is concerned. Chris Gayle, also known as the Universal Boss, is leading the charts with 857 from 338 matches. Most importantly, his figures are 320 more than that of his Windies teammate Kieron Pollard, who is second on the list. Gayle is also the only batsman to boast off 10,000+ runs (11,599) in the shortest format.
