Sunil Narine has been in sublime form, if not bowling, he is making headlines with his batting. He recently smashed a 49-ball hundred against Rajasthan Royals at the Eden Gardens, and talks have been going around about his participation in the upcoming T20 World Cup as well.

“It is what it is but we will have to see what the future holds,” Narine told the broadcaster in a sideline chat after his hundred as well.

Meanwhile, West Indies captain Rovman Powell, who was in the opposition camp on Tuesday (April 16), has shared that he’s been trying to get Sunil Narine to come out of international retirement as well.

“For the last 12 months, I have been whispering in his ears,” Powell said of Narine, “but he’s blocked out everyone. I’ve asked [Kieron] Pollard, [Dwayne] Bravo, [Nicholas] Pooran. Hopefully, before they select the team, they can crack his skull.”

However, Sunil Narine last played for the West Indies in August 2019 and announced his retirement in November 2023, when he said that it would be “business as usual” for him in the “franchise world in the foreseeable future” as well.

He also opened up on Rajasthan Royals’ thrilling win over KKR as well.

Rovman Powell said: “The emotions is all over the place, anytime you can chase 220 it is a good game of cricket. When I came into the game, I had a plan to take on Sunil because he is their best bowler and that situation was such that I had to go after him, so I backed my strength and backed my options and it came off today.  The morale in the team is very good, even when I am not playing the communication has been very good and as an international player, I really appreciate when the communication is precise and clear. The guys are in good space and long may that continue. I bat number 4 or 5 for West Indies and if you think West Indies is a good T20 side, then you can push me up the order, we have got a few days off now and I will keep ringing it in their ears.”
