Coronavirus pandemic has been affecting people all over the world and Bangladesh is no less. As the virus continues to spread at a great pace in the country, fast bowler Rubel Hossain has expressed his concerns on this and also increasing prices being charged for preventive equipment like masks and sanitisers in the country. In a Facebook post, Hossain attacked businesses for being “greedy” in the crisis situation and referred to them as the “actual coronavirus”.

“We are a greedy and ruthless nation,” started Rubel in his Facebook status.

“China went through a severe crisis recently but the manufacturers there had reduced the price of the masks, because they are human. Whereas with us, the moment we heard about corona, the mask worth Taka 5 is now being sold for taka 50. Mask of taka 20 is now ascended to taka 100 or 150. Because we are greedy people,” he added.

“In such desperate times I remember those heroes who fought together to get us freedom. But today despite being under a crisis we are not being able to stand as one. Why? Price of mask, sanitizers and regular items in the market is increasing. Damn to those greedy, profiteer businessmen who are creating artificial crisis. They are the actual coronavirus of the country,” concluded Rubel Hossain.

Amid the ongoing complete lockdown, it is difficult for everyone to work out another plan as COVID-19 has so far taken 11 lives in India along with 500-plus positive cases reported as well.
