Sri Lanka had to suffer a humiliating defeat of 302 runs against India in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 match played at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on 2 November. The Sri Lankan cricket team could not bat even the full 20 overs in this match. It was exactly the same story as in the final of Asia Cup 2023 when the Indian cricket team comprising Rohit Sharma won the title by defeating them in a one-sided match.
In this match, no Sri Lankan batsman could score even 15 runs against India. With this defeat, the hopes of the Sri Lankan cricket team of reaching the semi-finals of the ongoing ODI World Cup 2023 have been completely shattered, while on the other hand, the Indian cricket team has qualified for the semi-finals.
