The second phase of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 will be commencing in a week’s time. Many teams have struggled this season due to the slow pitches and poor batting followed by it and one of them is sure, Mumbai Indians (MI). They were forced to play in Chennai in the first phase and things haven’t got better in the UAE as the pitches are difficult for the batters and they are more helpful to the spinners than fast bowlers or even the batsman. 

However, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) seems to be benefiting from the pitch conditions in the UAE. CSK is a historically good team that can spin better than any other team in the IPL. It is so because CSK has historically played at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai and the pitch at the Chepauk is famously known for its spectacular turn.

It is also very dry to the weather conditions in Chennai. However, CSK has had a spectacular IPL season so far. Their batting, bowling, and fielding have been improved massively. This has resulted in them ending in the top two.

Moreover, CSK will be locking horns with Delhi Capitals (DC) in the first playoffs and a lot of credit for their phenomenal performance goes to Ruturaj Gaikwad.  He is the leading run-getter for Chennai this season having scored more than 500 runs. He is also a leading candidate for being the highest run-scorer in the 14th edition of the tournament. 

There is no doubt that MS Dhoni has molded a lot of talented youngsters into successful players in the past. However, many of them have come from Chennai Super Kings. However, the captain cool also played a very big role in molding Ruturaj Gaikwad. Even Gaikwad’s coach has mentioned that Dhoni played a very big role in Ruturaj Gaikwad’s development.

Talking about the same, Ruturaj’s coach Sandeep Chavan said, “Dhoni always tells Ruturaj to stay away from social media. Apart from batting tips, handling pressure, and accelerating the run rate, Dhoni’s advice of staying away from social media to Ruturaj has worked well for him.”

Sandeep Chavan further added, “Ruturaj tells me this big thing about Dhoni and his team, that if you perform well, they will appreciate you, but if you are not able to perform, they will still treat you in the same way. They won’t let you feel that you had a bad outing in the middle. That’s the best thing about CSK.”
