After the suspension of Steve Smith and David Warner, the Australian cricket team is struggling hugely in the international cricket. However, the former Australian pacer Ryan Harris believes there will be not too many changes in the national squad. He only wants to see Mitchell Marsh goes down the batting order.

Recently, Harris told SEN (Melbourne radio station), “I don’t think there will be too many changes. The only thing I’d change, personally, I don’t think Mitchell Marsh is a No.4. With Matt Renshaw, he should come back in at the top, and pushes Marsh down to five or six.”

Currently, Harris is the coach of Cricket Australia’s (CA) National Performance Squad. While he believes the current situation is the great opportunity for the newcomers, he also warned on the players’ selections as he calls for the consistency in the selection matter rather than one or few big knocks.

Harris said, “I’ve heard it said a number of times, if you’re at Shield level now and you’re making hundred after hundred after hundred there’s a big carrot there if you want to take it. If someone is doing that, there’s been a couple of guys already who have made a good start to the season, if they’re doing that consistently then who knows, their opportunity might come. They are hopefully going to be superstars. But let’s let them earn it first and get them to average around 40 in first-class cricket.”

His words pointed out the recent first-class centuries of the New South Wales’ youngsters Jason Sangha and Jack Edwards. Harris is not supporting their selection in the national team at present, rather than he wants to put them under observation.
