Rinku Singh’s impressive performance in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 season, where he scored 474 runs in 14 matches with a remarkable average of 59.25 and a strike rate of 149.53, positioned him as a potential candidate for the Indian national team. However, his wait for a T20I debut continued as he was not included in the squad for the T20I series against West Indies.

Known for his exceptional finishing skills during the IPL, former Indian wicketkeeper Kiran More predicted Rinku Singh’s potential success in a similar role for the Indian team. More drew parallels to the iconic finishers like MS Dhoni and Yuvraj Singh and expressed optimism about Rinku stepping into that crucial role.

“We all have seen MS Dhoni and Yuvraj Singh. After that, we haven’t got a player like them. We tried making such players, but it didn’t work so far. Tilak Varma is also there, he too can perform that role. Rinku is also a brilliant fielder. And I have seen him in domestic cricket as well, he has improved a lot I feel,” Kiran More shared during a conversation with JioCinema.

While chasing the target, India’s innings faced an interruption due to rain with the score at 47/2 in 6.5 overs. Yashasvi Jaiswal and Tilak Varma fell victim to Craig Young’s bowling. The match concluded with India securing a two-run victory through the DLS method. Although Rinku didn’t have an opportunity to bat in this match, he remains hopeful for a chance in the upcoming games.
